I also like how you have taken a simple, ubiquitous game and taken it further with the use of technology - pretty innovative thinking. However, the issue lies primarily in practice - was it necessary to enhance such a game, or does it just over-complicate things? Necessary or not, an interesting idea all the same. Also not much physical exertion involved, and could also be very short-lived in a social context. Mind/body conflict was definitely addressed, and animations/website were excellent. The game though I’m not too sure about. Even in real life this game is only played to make quick decisions. I think its lacking on the actual visual game aspect. If you could have made the game more visual appealing and stimulating and mentally challenging then it would have been gr8.

The idea of how the glove works thought is good and I can see a few other uses for it that might be fun.

I’ve decided to ditch the mark allocation list. Not too pleased with the initial reuse of the rock, paper & scissors game but the extreme & the 15 modes take something old & gives it new life!I can imagine your glove being use in allot of different various in future games. But with wiimotes, balance boards, eye toys and the like, the opportunity to design more physically exerting games exists. The beating up of the other player does add a bit of physical exertion in there though.

Mind Body conflict
The standard rock paper scissors game does not provide too much of a mind body conflict. Adding the extreme mode, adds a good strategic element. RPS 15 adds a lot of complexity, and may be too confusing for new players, until they learn the system.

Social
A great social game, adding real world actions, that can determine the strength of your avatar. Adding a non-parallel aspect to a traditionally parallel game works well. This game has great social aspects.

Emotion
The emotional investment in this game ties in greatly with the social aspect. Playing against a computer would offer limited emotional investment.

Perfomance
This game has no real discernable performance aspects to it. Maybe a power mode like pulling a ‘Power Rangers’ pose could add extra attack bonuses.

Originality
A very unique take on making a physical game. Using an existing game and adding it to a digital environment isn’t entirely original. But adding the damage and battle system is a very creative addition.

Style
I like the floating gloves, very Disney/Warner Bros. And seeing as style and taste is subjective, you get bonus points for that. I would liked to have seen a mockup of what it would look like in 3D though.

Presentation
The presentation was very good, straight forward, and managed to get all the points across. Use of visuals to reinforce the message was great. Great flash animation.

Website
The website conveyed enough information to allow the reader to understand the game. Having the flash interactive and links to David Lovelace’s site were great.

Marks

Physical Exertion: 7/10
Mind Body Conflict/loop: 7/10
Social: 9/10
Emotion: 8/10
Performance: 7/10
Originality: 8/10
Style: 9/10
Presentation: 9/10
Website: 8/10
Conclusion: 8/10

Total 80/100

HD (High Distinction)

Scraped in for a High Distinction… I am considering lowering this mark if no food, drink or monkeys are offered to me by the end of today’s class.Robert Sheahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11090826561723680373noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8840029558919433184.post-13648030950641353692009-06-04T15:02:18.266+10:002009-06-04T15:02:18.266+10:00This is great.
