It would be like the digimons and tamagotchis. If they were inexpensive and something just sold in the toy section in kmart then it would just go off. You'd market to school kids so that when they went to school with thier buddy who got them over the weekend whilst their mums went out for coffee. And once the other kids have seen what fun the other two are having or see that they can join in, they'll go home and beg their mums for it "MUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMM! CAN I HAVE A TOAST!!! ONLY $9.96 FROM K-MART"
And then once the kids all have them, the teachers will get into it (or ban them, but let's hope not) and then once the teachers are in on it, the whole world will be.

But yes, the actual game! Perhaps expanding the idea from throwing only food, you could also add objects. For example get a washing machine or a shoe and owning someone in the face with it, that would be wikid. Well balanced as it is also not overtly physical either.

Mind Body Loop
Do you get pictures on your controller thing of what you're throwing and an illustrated menu??? Everyone loves the idea of throwing food but I am still a bit confused about how you do it in this game. You own a special device which you flick??? Is it GPRS? Special Software enables it to make friends with supermarket scanners? How does it read and relay the info back to the main server???

Emotion
Sounds like fun, if only I was convinced about how it really worked.

Social
Very social, loads of fun for a large group of people.

Performance
Please see my Mind-body comments... unsure and a little unclear about this one.

Originality
Quite original, particularly the physical side of it. A bit too reminiscent of Superpoke and similar facebook applications but still very original, particularily in the "playing field".

Style
Slides looked great & were full of humour. Maybe a menu image or something would have helped.

Presentation
Spoken well, pretty slides, but a bit lacking in information about how it actually technically worked.

Website
Slides looked good, were funny to read but could have been a bit more informative about the actual game & gameplay.

Marks

Physical Exertion: 8/10
Mind Body Conflict: 8/10
Mind Body Loop: 8/10
Social: 10/10
Emotion: 8/10
Performance: 7/10
Originality: 8/10
Style: 7/10
Presentation: 7/10
Website: 7/10

Overall, that gives you 78% which is a D100th Monkeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14217004200249372672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8840029558919433184.post-45039439065013217372009-06-10T20:43:14.223+10:002009-06-10T20:43:14.223+10:00Nom, nom, nom, nom!
Physical Exertion
This game h...Nom, nom, nom, nom!

Physical Exertion
This game has the scope to provide intense physical exertion, with the ability for players to choose where and when they play. The range of the toaster allows for non-parallel play. If you are outside the range, they cannot hit you, and vice versa. It has the ability to make people run away from each other.

Mind Body conflict
There seems to be no mind body conflict present here. As any technical aspects of the game can be done in the safe territories of supermarkets. I’m not sure if this falls under mind body conflict, but playing in public spaces can or could cause conflict. Getting in the general publics way, running out in front of cars! (We’ve all seen the TAC ads yes?) But separating the real world from the virtual world seems to be the main point of conflict here. Much like the virtual reality headsets we saw the other week.

Social
An extremely social game, which can be played with friends or anyone, either strengthening or forging friendships.

Emotion
When isn’t having food fights fun? This allows for all the fun, with none of the mess! The inclusion of social networks allows for increased ‘immersion’ in this game, for lack of a better word. It let’s you brag about, or show off your food fighting skills, and presumably your fighting style (Mixed foods or not?) This increases your sense of pride and ownership of the game, or game play.

Perfomance
When you perform the throwing action, it’s much like you would throw real food. Although, I feel you may end up looking like a tit, running around, throwing nothing at other people. Maybe adding programming for detecting different types of throws would be cool? To award points for style, such as, spinning around like a hammer throw etc.

Originality
Great use of technology and environment. The way in which the battles in this game are conducted is fairly original and sounds interesting. If this were marketed at kids I think it’s hit the right balance of originality and ability to pick it up and learn quickly.

Style
Nice product design. Maybe a bit too complex. KISS

Presentation
I liked your presentation, well spoked and presented all these essential information.

Website
Website contained enough information to understand the game. Some more examples of how the gameplay worked would of helped.

Marks

Physical Exertion: 9/10
Mind Body Conflict/loop: 7/10
Social: 9/10
Emotion: 8/10
Performance: 8/10
Originality: 8/10
Style: 7/10
Presentation: 8/10
Website: 7/10
Conclusion: 8/10

Bonus Points: 2 for TOAST!!! Unless the other players are wearing a sign around their neck or have a green diamond floating above their heads how will you know who is playing and who is not.

Using the real world as a playing field sounds fantastic, you just need to make sure there are other people to interact with in the game.

I’ve decided to ditch the mark allocation list.
