What a pretty website.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - great presentation and great website, lovely 3d animations in particular. They really helped get the idea across. And the hamsters are adorable.
ReplyDeleteOriginal idea - I love that your peripheral wouldn't even be too expensive because it creatively utilises the features already available on the wiimote.
I got the impression that the person you were playing could play on the same console as you? If this is right, I could see this game having great social and performance aspects, especially with more players. I can imagine a lot of laughing and fooling around going on. For instance, maybe your hamster ball rolls off the edge of the course, so you take the opportunity to try and smack the ball out of the other person's hands. Or maybe if you were playing with 4 people, 2 people would form an alliance to try and run another player's hamster ball off the edge.
The only problem I could foresee is one with mind-body conflict - it could be a bit difficult to get your head around rolling the ball the right way to turn the direction you intended, especially in the fast paced gameplay I imagine with this game.
Fantastic job.
High Distinction.
This idea has probably been one of my favs so far. Its unique and seems like a fun idea. I liked the concept art and i think that yous explained the concept well in the presentation. Only downer about this one for me was that it didnt seem like it requires much phisical exersion in the sense. I dont know if there was a requirement for how much exersion was needed for our game designs but my interpretation is that the player must work up a sweat.
ReplyDeleteOther than that i thought this one was great
Distinction
Hey there, i like this idea as what everyone say, it is an original and creative idea.
ReplyDeleteThe gameplay vid that shown during the presentation and on the website really attract my attention.
The idea of creation wiiball for this game really works well as to make player get into more physical activities and if social interaction if multiplayer going during the gameplay.
Distinction
When I was looking at the WiiRoll Ball I instantly thought of the ball out of the Challenge maps on Portal (look at the WiiRoll ball, then the ball in companion cube level in challenge maps pictorial reference: http://yfrog.com/0ncompaionballj).
ReplyDeleteHowever, the idea is pretty neat, might not be as physically intense as one could have hoped but none-the-less the idea is there.
Distinction (75-80)
Engaging, original idea for a game. It's simple and fun for just about everyone. The video and site were also well made, and clearly exhibits how the game will look like.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the WiiBall the team invented is also another good idea, and it certainly requires physical dexterity and a bit of exertion to play.
Fantastic job. The presentation and game design are easily HD material.
Team H,
ReplyDeleteThe video was a very good way of demonstrating the game play/social interaction that players experience, and who ever made it is very skilled in 3d :D
The website design is clean and easy to use, yet I would have liked more written information about the game, it seems you guys have only written around 200 words about your idea.
The reason I like the character customization is because it makes the player invest time/emotion into creating their character for it to be a unique representation of their self, which adds not only emotional aspects but social.
As the others have mentioned, your game lacks the physical effort that most people would expect from an exer-game, to combat this you could somehow incorporate other body parts rather than just the hands, but this would also be hard to implement into a functioning system.
Your Wii Ball idea was so good I believe Nintendo could even make use of it for one of their games. But for some reason I can see little children playing your game, getting frustrated and kicking the ball into the TV.

Physical Exertion
ReplyDeleteNot overly physical (can see myself playing it quite lazy-like) in nature compared to some other games proposed but still sufficiently a physical game. I like the use of a wii board & remote built into the concept.
Mind Body conflict
Not overly taxing on the mind or physical side so balanced quite well.
Mind Body Loop
Physical playing attachments make this section well thought out. My imagination would be well satisfied with what you have provided.
Emotion
I can see how the emotion of fun was considered as with most of the games and competing with another player could be rather exciting.
Social
Defintely a social game which could be quite fun with some friends, drinks and a lot of laughs.
Perfomance
This has been described well, particularly on the website with your info & diagrams. Easy to play but possibly engaging, particularly due to it's social, competitive aspects.
Originality
Definatly original. Rolling a hamster? Who would have thought it could be so fun!!!
Style
Great flash movie example for your game presentation. Character designs are adorable, all the design is one slick package.
Presentation
Spoken & put together well with great visual aids. Sweet.
Website
I can not fault this (much), it is informative, funny, enhanced with great images. A well thought out, sweet package. It would have been EVEN BETTER if you'd coloured & photoshopped your character designs to suit the "clean & slick" image of the whole web page.

I like your motto, "That's how Wii Roll" very clever. Good work with your site, i enjoyed the 3D as well as the 2D animation that you created for your game. Allowing the player to feel as though they are really rolling a hamster in a round ball was a good idea. The game seems fun so you get a High Distinction
ReplyDeleteNice work - pity you screwed up tech-wise cos i've already seen how wicked some of those movies were - but i can't take that into account.
ReplyDeleteExcellent website. Nice movies and well presented. Not really much exertion or performance, but you got the cuteness/emotion factor in.
Distiction
i luffed you guyss, though i'm biased because i love teh hamstars <3
ReplyDeleteyour game is awesome and your hamster wiiball majiggy seemed pretty practical. your characters are rad. i want them all plz. your site is rad, your animations are rad along with the info you provide and the wording (eg. needing balls to play). would you like me to say rad again?
one of my favourites for sure!
and you guys should make the king character this little monster;

I can see great concepts on improving current games. You could also have the ball weighed, as to aiming for the body building community, or as those prison balls shackled to in-mates, so prison isn't half as boring as it is.
ReplyDeleteDistinct
I have to be honest...
ReplyDeleteYou guys totally cheated by having prior knowlege and experience in 3D animation.
The only problem i see is the mind-body paradox that would tell you to roll the ball forward, without actually rolling the ball.
I understand how the game works and i think it would be totally rad (agh ive been infected) but it would be confusing trying to roll the ball and hold it at the same time, hoever i think this kind of confusion and mayem of trying to constantly roll the ball faster than another human player would be awesome (ill give you a demonstration of how i think it would go down if you like :P)
High Distinction
very impressive. I'm very impressed.
ReplyDeleteThe use of a ball to put the wii-remote in is very clever as it doesn't require any extra technology. Game idea was great, the site equally so.
But maybe you could put the ball, i don't know, in the ground? and you have to run on it. Yeah i think that's a great idea! :P
But anyway, i think this is worthy of a HD. Good stuff.
Game is great. I would like to play it . I think you game is a good game design, including performance ( cute characters and smart environment), social , full of emotions and mind body conflict( how to get through).. so cool game. You guys should get HD ( 82)
ReplyDeleteBut one thing that i thought, You just play it buy roll a ball?! It's mean , it could be getting boring and your hand is tired. How about you play game by moving whole body . Think about it..

Interesting and original game concept. Although its not a very physical game, you could still probably break a sweat by rolling the ball really fast just in your hands.
ReplyDeleteYour website and videos were pretty awesome too.
72/100. D
I think this has a lot of potential, but its not very exertion, and you can't really show off to other players. But it seems deceptively simple, I am sure it would become very competitive. Your website is great, no complaints there. Your presentation conveyed your idea very well. It would be nice to see people thinking away from the Wii.
ReplyDeleteOverall great. 80/100 HD.
There isn't much to say besides this is a really f***** good idea. I think Nintendo would actually go for this if you pitched it to them.
ReplyDeleteThere's not really much i can fault about the WiiRoll. If the Wii dudes brought this out to the public I wouldnt give it a second thought, it seems like a perfectly sellable and playable peripheral for the Wii. The game is also good, as it complements the use of the ball (as it was clearly meant to). The website is epic.
Actually i jsut thought of a fault. There isn';t that much exertion. I guess if it gets pretty hectic with the ball you could get pretty puffed but that is the only department in which it lacks.
I like it.

ReplyDeleteWhat can I say, I loved this game and I hate hamsters! The idea was really original...except for it being a bit like monkeyball, but otherwise. Marking time!
Physical Exertion: 5-6/10 (still not so sure about the exert-o-meter for this one)

Hmm for some reason this all looks very familiar. Wonder why?? Maybe if the ball was in the ground, I might remember better. Just joking.
ReplyDeleteOverall great concept, though I dont see how this is exerting at all. Shaking things wont make me sweat to be honest but still for the effort you put in,
(Distinction) Near HD to me but the point was to make an exerting game which to me did not seem very exertive
Brilliant presentation. Loved the 3D.
ReplyDeleteas for the game i think it's a great idea. I imagine rolling the ball around in your hands would be quite difficult and give the game an awesome learning curve. I'd love to play this.
distinction!
i really enjoyed your presentation :) and i an see this been a huge hit with all the social qualities to this game. Also you can tell there has been a lot of thought put into the design to make it very creative and fun looking.
ReplyDeletemark: HD
This was a fantastic presentation. I think the game idea is solid. I think the game could benefit by somehow offering some force feedback in the ball...I'm not sure how though haha.
ReplyDeleteOverall a very solid DI.
This game concept has to be my favourite! It is a smart way to utilise the wii controllers and take it that one step furthur which most of us are waiting for, as for the wii. I really enjoyed this presentations and was concentrating the whole through :) Also a wonderful website, which really captured the ideas, concepts and thoughts put into this game. Some cute aspects used! Got the owwww factor in!
ReplyDeleteHD!!!
Ned here.
ReplyDeleteSort of like the next logical step of super monkey ball. Gives more of a 'playing god' element to the whole thing. And who doesn't want to decide the fate of adorable critters risking life and furry limb for our entertainment.
Plus I think you are SPOT ON with the predicted Wii Roll community ball-pimping. Absolutely. Should add functionality for profile pics in the game so people can see your tricked out Wii Ball. Wii Ball conventions? Tick. Wii Ball Memes? Tick. Loveable Wii Ball mascots? Tic.
Yep. >High Distinction<
A new way to look at rolling ball games, I think the interface is the key.
ReplyDeletePhysical Exertion
While not overly physically exerting for the whole body, I think this game would definitely give your arms a hard time.
Mind Body conflict
Keeping up with the game and rolling the ball in your hands could become hard to concentrate on. I am not sure you would have the fidelity of control with the ball as you would need, or if the wii controller could support being flipped over like that (in terms of creating readable input for the wii)
Social
A very social game as the non-parallel aspects of the game blend quite well into the control and multiplayer mode.
Emotion
A fun and exciting game, this would be quite fun, but I can see frustration with the contrller being a great emotion too!
Perfomance
I cannot remember the performance based aspects of this game from the presentation, sorry. It would be good if more info was on your website to cover this.
Originality
Not an entirely original game, think Super Monkey Ball, Marble Madness etc. The control scheme and physical input was an original idea though. Although I’m not sure of it’s practicality.
Style
Very simplistic in the videos, but the flash animation was great, very cheesey… I like cheese.
Presentation
Your presentation was very informative, your uses of a variety of media helped get your message across. But like some other teams, not mentioning any names, like Team J!!! you went a little overtime, which made me forget some things you mentioned. haha
Website
Fantastic website, showing videos, some cool ads, and dressed up like a real game website. Would like to have been able to read more about the game though.

Your game could go far, only if you had samples of real hamsters in balls to pass out in class.
This game sounded freakin awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be one which can be enjoyed by a large group of people, from young children fine tuning their motor skills. To inebriated adults helplessly shaking a ball while shouting slurred cuss words at a tv.
I honestly think that it would make a great game, and am surprised nintendo hasnt created something similar yet. Although now that its on the internet im sure we'll be seeing something resembling a ball pretty soon.
Great work on all of it, my only criticism is that I can't play it now.
HD
s3200763- idea is very original.
ReplyDeleteDistinction. Very well thought out
ReplyDeleteI really like the game, the lovely 3d modelling/animation and the hamsters :D
ReplyDeleteI think you guys did a great job. Pat on the back for you all ^^
I like the fact that you can prevent your opponents from wining by pushing them off the sides of the areas. In other words, even though your actions aren't directed to your opponent physically, the actions you do in the game affect their avatars and therefore their outcome.
Your control interface is very appealing, good job on that :) It might get repetitive and tiring though. And I'm not sure if the WiiMote is able to simulate a rolling motion, from my experiences (specifically with Mario Kart) the controller resets itself once it reaches a certain angle (ie. starts steering right if you steer left too much).
Other than that, I don't think I have much else to say. HD for you guys. Keep it up!
Chad.
This game sounds original in a way and looks fun and competitive - i love the cute hamsters and the animation. Although it looks hard to control with the wiimote. However, the game does have some potentials
ReplyDeleteI give this game a HD
This game is excellent. It is very original and it instantly grabs your attention. Great job on the 3D aspects, very cool :)
ReplyDeleteIn terms of exertion I don't think it is extremely physical but then again I guess it depends on how much energy an individual wants to invest in it; just like in Guitar Hero ^^
The website is well set out well and it has been kept clear and concise. Well done! :)
There really isn't much more I can say that hasn't been said already :)
You get a HD from me, great job guys! ^_^
Awesome concept. Very well thought out and creative. I love the wii mote ball peripheral, its simple but it really looks like it could work. Quite impresed at how professional this concept is as a whole. Keep up the good work 10/10.
ReplyDeleteHey guys,
ReplyDeletethis idea was amongst the really original ideas.
The only problem I had with it was if a player was wanting to just spin it without having to throw the ball up in the air and catch it again..
like the idea i said in the class.
possibly have a little like holder for it. where u can just spin it inside that holder and change directions..
this gives the players a bit more control over the ball and are able to get mass amounts of speed. without having to stop all the time. by catching it.
OR another idea i had for that.
is having an axle for the ball.
so u can squeaze the ball in between ur knees and roll the ball forward and backwards without having to throw it around everywhere.
(probably the easier solution)
The game concept was very original and i can see it being very exerting.
Therefor:
HD.
A nice peripheral for the wii and it has a lot of potential. The game seems pretty fun and i'd play it.
ReplyDeleteYour presentation was ok, the video was a nice demonstration of the gameplay. The website's pretty cruddy but i doubt you spent a lot of time on it.

ReplyDeleteOriginal idea placing the Wii remote into a ball *roll roll roll*
= D
a very decent use of the wiimote to add new way use it physically. the game is a bit close to the super monkey ball but with a new interface i'm sure it wuld be allot more enjoyable...
ReplyDeletegiving this a credit
Superb game! Love the thought that went into this. I do think the novelty of the peripheral has a chance of wearing thin in the long term, but for the specific game + target audience, great. Lovely animations/website for the amount of time you had to do them in. Exertion-wise, I do think that some more effort into getting the user to incorporate their entire body in the game, rather than solely their hands/arms, wouldn't go amiss, and would pull the game from being awesome to Even More Awesome.
ReplyDeleteI give you a Distinction.
I completely love this game concept. The presentation and website are awesome! Using little adorable hamsters, your group deserve a HD!

Hey guys.
ReplyDeleteNice idea incorporating the Wii remote in a ball. Hamster in a ball I have seen the game before. Nice presentation, I understood everything. My biggest problem is that ball though; I just can’t see rolling that thing in your hands being very easy. However all together I liked it and would give it a try.
I‘m writing this on all the projects I mark. These are points I think are most fair to mark each group on. Even though I still don’t weigh them evenly in my mind.

Dude by far an awesome website! This is probably one of "in my opinion" the coolest social and emotional idea. It works really well because u are using an animal avatar and u can try work hard to unlock and upgrade things :) Also this has a huge possibilities for further game play development bringing the audience even closer through extra levels different balls new animals so on so on...
