  1. Lovely game. I can finally have a food fight :D Best bit is you don't have to go home with dirty clothes!

The interface is fascinating, very good work with that. The fact that you have to go into stores and scan items is awesome. I'm not sure if that could be implemented in reality at all, but the idea is nice :)

You will have to think about how and where the scores are kept.

Not much else to say. The more people playing this the better!

  2. My mark: CR
I’m still a little bit confused about what parts of this game are virtual and which are real but from my understanding it seems like a nice idea for a game. The things I like most about it is how it would link in with social networking websites like fasebuok as the actually game itself is already largely focused on being about social interaction/performance so I thought that having that component of it was very clever.

  3. I can't remember the game but i think it sounds fun to go around and virtually throw food at random people, i assume :3 it's like that scanner barcode monster game thing that was around few years back - but who wants to fight each other's monster, when you can attack each other xD

I think this game is HD
Good time to act like children again :D

  4. There's a movie coming out soon called "Food Fight!", and this game should be the Game of the Movie haha.

I like that it works with Facebook and Twitter etc; but since it's aimed at children in primary school, I don't think they'd have accounts on those sites.

    But yeah, good idea.

  5. This game has a unique feel about it.
The idea of having to venture out to scan items is a good motivator to getting out in the open rather than being confided to the interiors of a home or arcade that most games require. It does remind me of "Skannerz" that were popular a while back, but this in comparison to them is quite different in the respect that it is food we are throwing and not monsters trying to kill each other ^^

The idea of a virtual food fight is great and with no mess to clean up in the end ftw ^^

Your presentation was good and it would be fun on Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and other networking sites regardless of the age. I think we could all admit at some stage or another we have participated, or still participate in some form of childish networking game where we throw inanimate objects at each other, just because we can =P

    The more the merrier ^^

You get a distinction from me.

  6. Everyone loves a food fight, except the people who have to clean up. Which I suppose would make a virtual food fight very appealing to most because it is clean up free. But for some reason this concept never really got to me. It was a rather bland presentation and I could not understand all of your concept clearly. 5/10.

    ReplyDelete
  7. The virtual food fight concept is something most people would love to do, but it. And the MASSIVEly multiplayer aspect truly makes this game shine.

Unfortunately, the presentation was quite plain and did not really enhance the appeal of the game and "sell it" for me. Better luck next time in this aspect I suppose.

At any rate: Credit. (a more interesting group presentation would have easily made this a grade higher.)

  8. Distinction from me. nice and original idea to play and its not too complicated to understand the gameplay

  10. Pretty original idea and I like the idea of blending different foods together for additional combos and points. Basic but effective gameplay.
    Distinction :)

  11. realisically, i seriously doubt his game could work, which is a shame becasue i think the idea is pretty cool. i think the real worl problems tha this would face would be many such as;
providing server access to every device all the time, creating an inventory of every supermarket product barcode, interacting with other devices (directional and range issues) AND tomatoes dont have barcodes.
however i think this could work to some extent on an iphone, say if you photographed what you wanted to throw, dialed someones number and swung your phone, but that takes a bit of the magic which makes this sound fun out of the overall concept...

  12. straight up i like your idea. i mean who in the world WOULDN'T love to have a food fight, and then not have to clean the mess up after?

Something i was wondering though is, what happens if you throw a watermelon at someone? that is pretty much gonna knock someone out cold, or maybe kill em. But yeah, you could also have a system that involves vegetarians so like if your vegetarian and someone throws meat at you they get extra points but you get maybe a power up or something (coz youd be pissed off at them for throwing meat on you)
    THE POSSIBILITIES ARE LIMITLESS!!!!

Love it, would love to see people playing it, D for distinction.

  15. scanning barcodes of different products and stuff is a pretty cool idea.

  16. There's no website, so it's a little hard to grade your game accuratly. Also i was pretty hungry when you guys presented that, so with all the food talk i got a little distracted.

The game concept seemed kind of fun and i'd give it a shot. I liked the idea of scanning the barcodes too.

Scanning barcodes reminds of the toys 'scanner'
but i don't think people would like to get dirty, since a lot of people are losing their jobs i don't think they would want to waste food.

It's good multiplayer, but not too much exertion, especially since you have limited the ammount of items you can store. Its a good game for kids, but I don't see it marketing well to adults like you were saying in the presentation. Overall, its a nice concept, a better presentation and a link the website would be helpful.

  21. I always loved a good food fight - started most of them too :P, but i would always be a little sad that i had wasted my food...
This game really changes that, i can still actually eat my food - so i wouldnt be wast...(well it wasnt REALLY wasted) food and money.
The whole social aspect works really well - i can see people preparing their "lunchboxes" together and making truces before showdowns, adding a little extra excitement through the anticipation.
I can defiantly see this selling!

  22. Fantabulous idea! A lot of innovation in the concepts and it sounds like a lot of fun. The unique features make it distinct. The sociality side of things is superb, but I have to say I think lauching this kind of idea would be very difficult. Once it takes off though, you guys a set : D.

    D-istinction!!!

  23. ever since i can remember eating food iv always wanted to throw it :P Great idea i think it really innovative bringing it to the wii.
Also this has a great social potential and a great way to get people up and about chasing each other so full points for physicality dudes :)

  24. scanning barcodes was a good idea to get food and i understand the relevance of throwing food as a social aspect, but dont necessarily understand how it would make a good game. This is probably because their is a lot about the game i do not quite understand. Please post website so i can read up on the rules.

    for now Grade: C

  25. I left your presentation suddenly with private reason . So i can not comment or grade your idea without website . Hope you guy could get great mark!

  26. you get points from moving away from using a pre -existing console /format. and making the game about food fights something every person dreams about partaking in is smart. But i can't imagine it working well in a sort of free for all public in environment... without people looking nutty but is suppose is that the point. Also is there virtual mess? & i was kinda thinking isn't the whole point of a food fight is to get messy ? & do something we are not supposed to as civilized people?..eh.. anywhere that aside think your idea is nice...though the bar code scanning thing seems a bit too consumerist for my liking. though i do agree it has a good chance of having mass appeal if people are picking this up in the super market. I'm giving this a credit

  28. Hey Girls

I understood everything you guys said and I understand how the game works the only thing I see as a down side is someone else (obviously) needs the same game and device as you. Unless the other players are wearing a sign around their neck or have a green diamond floating above their heads how will you know who is playing and who is not.

Using the real world as a playing field sounds fantastic, you just need to make sure there are other people to interact with in the game.

I’ve decided to ditch the mark allocation list. From the presentation and what I think I’m able to give a mark that I think is fair.

  29. Nom, nom, nom, nom!

    Physical Exertion
This game has the scope to provide intense physical exertion, with the ability for players to choose where and when they play. The range of the toaster allows for non-parallel play. If you are outside the range, they cannot hit you, and vice versa. It has the ability to make people run away from each other.

    Mind Body conflict
There seems to be no mind body conflict present here. As any technical aspects of the game can be done in the safe territories of supermarkets. I’m not sure if this falls under mind body conflict, but playing in public spaces can or could cause conflict. Getting in the general publics way, running out in front of cars! (We’ve all seen the TAC ads yes?) But separating the real world from the virtual world seems to be the main point of conflict here. Much like the virtual reality headsets we saw the other week.

    Social
An extremely social game, which can be played with friends or anyone, either strengthening or forging friendships.

    Emotion
When isn’t having food fights fun? This allows for all the fun, with none of the mess! The inclusion of social networks allows for increased ‘immersion’ in this game, for lack of a better word. It let’s you brag about, or show off your food fighting skills, and presumably your fighting style (Mixed foods or not?) This increases your sense of pride and ownership of the game, or game play.

    Perfomance
When you perform the throwing action, it’s much like you would throw real food. Although, I feel you may end up looking like a tit, running around, throwing nothing at other people. Maybe adding programming for detecting different types of throws would be cool? To award points for style, such as, spinning around like a hammer throw etc.

    Originality
Great use of technology and environment. The way in which the battles in this game are conducted is fairly original and sounds interesting. If this were marketed at kids I think it’s hit the right balance of originality and ability to pick it up and learn quickly.

    Style
Nice product design. Maybe a bit too complex. KISS

    Presentation
I liked your presentation, well spoked and presented all these essential information.

    Website
Website contained enough information to understand the game. Some more examples of how the gameplay worked would of helped.

  30. Physical Exertion
Although it is not overly exerting, it is a concept which is uniquely physical and bringing gameplay into the possible everyday world.

    Mind Body conflict
Not overly taxing on the mind, unless you are a hopeless decision maker who just doesn't know if they should throw the porridge or the banana. Well balanced as it is also not overtly physical either.

    Mind Body Loop
Do you get pictures on your controller thing of what you're throwing and an illustrated menu??? Everyone loves the idea of throwing food but I am still a bit confused about how you do it in this game. You own a special device which you flick??? Is it GPRS? Special Software enables it to make friends with supermarket scanners? How does it read and relay the info back to the main server???

    Emotion
Sounds like fun, if only I was convinced about how it really worked.

    Social
Very social, loads of fun for a large group of people.

    Performance
Please see my Mind-body comments... unsure and a little unclear about this one.

    Originality
Quite original, particularly the physical side of it. A bit too reminiscent of Superpoke and similar facebook applications but still very original, particularily in the "playing field".

    Style
Slides looked great & were full of humour. Maybe a menu image or something would have helped.

    Presentation
Spoken well, pretty slides, but a bit lacking in information about how it actually technically worked.

    Website
Slides looked good, were funny to read but could have been a bit more informative about the actual game & gameplay.

  32. This is a well thought out game. I think you guys have designed it just about as much as you could want to. The social/network aspect of this game is really cool. I like the RSS style feeds of who's been been hit by what item.

  33. Food fights sound like tons of fun and by making it virtual allows me to be able to eat my food rather then waste it by throwing it at someone. Perhaps expanding the idea from throwing only food, you could also add objects. For example get a washing machine or a shoe and owning someone in the face with it, that would be wikid. Overall i like the concept and give you a distinction

    ReplyDelete
  34. Very quirky but not fully explained. It is one thing to say How about THis!?! and another to make it plausible. You certainly get the mind rolling along with all sorts of interesting thoughts along the lines of 'wouldn't it be cool' 'we could start a food fight right now'. But your mysterious handheld device that does anyhting you want without any explanation of how it work - other than magic of course (let's for a second pretend that all the wizards 100s of years ago used it up and now we only have petrol left) - pissed me off. In hindsight more so - cos my group got absolutely hammered on our practicality in this blog.

In summary - good idea, but ideas don't get far.

  36. Brilliant, original idea. My main gripe is that it was not as fleshed out as it could have been? The presentation is very aesthetically pleasing, A+ design, but I felt as though more explanation/context was needed. Really enjoy the "openness" of the game, and how there are no boundaries! Not very physically exerting, but the extra social aspect makes up for it. Distinction :)

  42. I really do think that this game would be marketable. It would be like the digimons and tamagotchis. If they were inexpensive and something just sold in the toy section in kmart then it would just go off. You'd market to school kids so that when they went to school with thier buddy who got them over the weekend whilst their mums went out for coffee. And once the other kids have seen what fun the other two are having or see that they can join in, they'll go home and beg their mums for it "MUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMM! CAN I HAVE A TOAST!!! ONLY $9.96 FROM K-MART"
And then once the kids all have them, the teachers will get into it (or ban them, but let's hope not) and then once the teachers are in on it, the whole world will be.

But yes, the actual game! Fantastic idea, easily marketable as i said and well planned out concept and original.

I thought Toast was quite an excellent idea, and i would play it myself. I think the social aspect of the game is what drives it. The exertion would only be really good if there were alot of people around... which, Odin willing, there would be. I can see the "MAAA GET ME THAT" factor coming into it at the shops.

I think making contracts with companies whose products are sold in the supermarkets would be win for one's paycheck.
